Dim light spills through stained glass windows, coloring the pews in hues of red and blue.
Sister “Angela” Trang Nguyen (70s) kneels before the statue of La Virgen de Guadalupe, quietly murmuring her prayers.
Her fingers work the rosary with practiced grace.
From somewhere nearby, perhaps the rectory office or a radio on low in the sacristy, a TV news broadcast plays, slightly muffled but clear enough to catch.
