My first video game was The Bard’s Tale, the original fantasy role-playing series.

Long before modern MMORPGs, cinematic cutscenes, and quest markers, we had graph-paper maps, parties of adventurers, mysterious dungeons, and monsters waiting around every corner.

There was no hand-holding. You learned, you explored, and sometimes your entire party died.

I’ve been wandering through imaginary worlds ever since.
